What are Nomination Programs?
Nomination programs let you:
- Nominate coworkers (or groups, if enabled) for a specific award or program.
- Share a short story about what they did.
- Approvers and voters choose the final winners.
- Nominees, even if they do not win, can be notified that they were nominated.
Nominations can only be submitted while a nomination program is open.
NOTE: Nomination Programs may not be available on your platform. If you do not see them, check with your internal Awardco contact.
Accessing the Nomination Program
Follow these steps to find active nomination programs on your homepage:
- Sign in to your company’s Awardco platform.
- On the homepage, look for the Nomination Programs widget.
- You may see the name of one or more programs (for example, “Awardco Way”) with a Nominate button.
If you do not see a Nomination Programs widget:
- There may not be an active program.
- You may not be eligible to submit nominations for the current program.
- Your company may not be using nomination programs yet.
In those cases, check with your internal Awardco contact.
Submitting a Nomination
Use these steps to access the nomination form:
- In the Nomination Programs widget, find the program you want to use.
- Click Nominate (or a similar button) for that program.
- Review the short program description and any “Learn more” text so you understand:
- Who you can nominate.
- What the program is looking for.
- The time frame the program is covering (for example, this quarter or year).
You will then see the nomination form for that program.
The nomination form will collect details about who you are nominating and why.
Step 1. Choose who you are nominating
You will first choose the coworker (or group, if enabled) you want to nominate:
- Start typing a name in the search bar.
- Select the correct person from the list.
NOTE: Your company controls who can be nominated. If you cannot find someone, they may not be eligible for this specific nomination program.
Step 2. Explain Why You are Nominating Them
Every nomination includes a main open-ended question such as:
- “Why do you want to nominate this person?”
Use this space to clearly describe:
- What they did.
- The impact it had on a person, team, or customer.
- Any specific results or concrete examples of what happened.
Tips to write a strong nomination:
- Be specific (what happened, when, and with whom).
- Focus on behaviors that match your company’s values or program criteria.
- Keep the story clear and easy to read.
Step 3. Answer any Extra Questions
Depending on how your company sets up the program, you may see extra questions, such as:
- Multiple-choice questions (single-select or multi-select).
- Short or long text answers.
- Upload fields for files, images, or videos.
To complete these:
- Read each question carefully.
- Fill out any fields marked as required.
- Optional questions can be skipped if you do not have more to share.
NOTE: Question types and wording can change by program. Always follow any instructions shown on the page.
Step 4. Review and Submit
Before you send your nomination:
- Check that you selected the correct nominee.
- Read through your main explanation to fix any typos or unclear parts.
- Confirm that you answered all required questions.
When you are ready, click Submit.
After Submitting a Nomination
Once you submit, your nomination enters the program’s review process. Behind the scenes, your company may:
- Run approval rounds, where managers or approvers decide if nominations move forward.
- Run voting rounds, where assigned reviewers vote for the finalists or winners from a group of nominees.
- Use one or more rounds before final winners are chosen.
From your point of view, as a nominator, once your nomination is submitted:
- You see a simple on-screen confirmation.
- In some cases, you may be contacted if approvers or voters need more details.
NOTE: After you submit a nomination, you won’t be able to view, edit, or cancel it. If you need to make a change, contact your internal Awardco admin or program owner.
Receiving a Nomination
If you are selected as a winner, you may:
- Receive a recognition or email when winners are announced.
- See a message that includes the main nomination story (for example, why you were nominated and what you did well).
- Receive points or another type of award if you are selected as a winner, depending on the program.
Even if you do not win:
- Your company can still choose to send you a message letting you know you were nominated.
All of this is controlled by how your admin set up the program.
Reviewing Nominations
If you are selected to help review nominations, you may be asked to either approve or vote on nominees:
-
Approvals: You review each nominee one by one and decide whether they should move forward in the program.
- For each nominee, you choose Approve (they move forward) or Deny (they do not move forward).
- You make a separate decision for every nominee assigned to you — you can approve all of them, deny all of them, or any combination.
- For example, you are assigned 10 nominees to review. You approve 7 and deny 3. The 7 approved nominees advance to the next stage.
-
Voting: You review a group of nominees and select a set number to move forward.
- You will be told how many nominees you need to select (for example, "Choose up to 3").
- Pick the nominees you believe should advance. The rest will not move forward.
- For example, you are assigned 10 nominees and asked to select 3. You choose your top 3, and the other 7 do not advance.
When you are needed as an approver or voter, you may:
- Receive an email letting you know you have nominations to review.
- Open your approvals queue from the Awardco homepage by selecting Approvals > Nominations.
Follow the on-screen instructions to:
- Open each nomination.
- Read the nomination story and any additional details.
- Approve or deny (for approvals), or select the allowed number of nominees (for voting).
NOTE: You must finish all of your assigned reviews before the round can move forward. If you are unsure how to decide, follow any guidelines your company shared for the program.
FAQ
Why don’t I see any nomination programs on my homepage?
Your company may not have an active program right now, or you may not be eligible for the current program. Check with your internal Awardco or HR contact.
Can I nominate more than one coworker?
That depends on your company’s rules for the program. Some programs limit how many nominations you can submit or how often you can nominate the same person.
Are nominations anonymous?
Nominations themselves are not anonymous. Program admins, approvers, and voters can see nomination details. When notifications go out, nominees may also see what was written about them, based on how the program is configured.
Do nominees always get points or rewards?
Not always. Some programs give points or awards only to the final winners. Others may focus on recognition and visibility without a monetary award. Your internal program communication should explain what winners and nominees can expect.
